Research

SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER

Enjoy testing the waters and seeing what’s out there. Think about what you want from a firm in terms of experience and culture. There’s no wrong answer, just what is right for you.

Do a little research and whittle it down to a little list of firms you might want to work for.

Then, stalk them. Joking. But do attend career and law fairs and reach out to those firms. Don’t be afraid to just pick up the phone. They’re just people – and if they’re rude, well would you want to work there anyway?

Application

JANUARY ONWARDS

Now you’ve got your hit list, it’s time to start applying for legal apprenticeships schemes.

Remember! Take time with the application and make it feel tailored to the firm.

Our application deadline for our Solicitor Apprenticeship Scheme is 16th March.

Deadlines for submitting applications vary so make sure you have a note of them.

*NOTICE*

OUR NEXT INTAKE OF SOLICITOR APPRENTERSHIPS WILL BE IN SEPTEMBER 2025. APPLICATIONS FOR THIS INTAKE ARE NOT YET OPEN BUT WILL BE TOWARDS THE END OF 2024. KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR ANY UPDATES ON OUR LINKEDIN AND WEBSITE!

END OF MARCH

You’ll hear from our early careers recruitment about the outcome of your initial application.

If your application is successful you’ll be invited to the next stage of the recruitment process, which will be an assessment centre.

APRIL – MAY

Assessment centres are held in April and May. These will include a group task, written task and an interview.

JUNE

If you are successful after the assessment centre, we will invite you to attend a few days of work experience.

JULY

You will hear back shortly after the work experience to confirm if you have been successful in securing a place on the Solicitor Apprenticeship scheme. Offers will be conditional until you have received your A-Level results. We currently take onboard two apprentices each year.

AUGUST

Results day is in August! You’ll need to achieve a minimum of 128 UCAS points to be accepted onto the scheme.

SEPTEMBER

When all the fun begins and you join us for your first day!

Working and studying

SEPTEMBER – Year 1

You’ll start your six year course in September with BPP and start your role within the firm.

Your first six months will be a huge learning curve where you’ll be introduced to working life in a law firm and studying. We’ll be here to help you along the way with various support coming from our early careers team, your mentors, supervisors and BPP.

To understand more about each year of the course, take a look at our Programme Structure page.

Qualification

SEPTEMBER – at the end of the scheme

You’ll qualify into your chosen area of law.

The graduate team likes to keep in touch with NQ’s to track progress and help them in any way we can.

During the first year of qualification you enroll on to our NQ development programme which will equip you with all the skills you need to start your qualified career.

Our Learning and Development team will meet with you yearly to help you make your mark within the firm and progress. We also have an NQ committee and meet with them throughout the year.
