Application review

Our Early Careers team reviews every application carefully. If your form is successful, you’ll be invited to the next stage.

SHL cognitive assessment

Shortlisted candidates will complete cognitive testing in August. Which covers the following:

  • Numerical reasoning – interpreting charts, graphs, and performing calculations
  • Deductive reasoning – drawing logical conclusions from given facts
  • Inductive reasoning – spotting patterns and making generalisations The tests are completed online and are designed to be fair, engaging, and reflective of real-world thinking.

Please note: Your test results are considered alongside your application by our Graduate Recruitment Partners. The score alone does not determine whether you progress to the next stage. We take a holistic view of your potential, considering both your performance in the assessment and the strength of your application. This is followed by another by another application review by the Graduate Recruitment Partners.

Insight day

Shortlisted applicants are invited to spend time with us, meet our people and learn more about life at Walker Morris. During the insight day you will be assessed on a range of activities including a firm introduction, a group task, written task and speed networking.

Work experience

If you are successful on the insight day, you will be assessed during the two-day work experience. It will involve sitting in a legal department, meeting various people within the firm, and completing typical tasks you would do as a solicitor apprentice.
